“Dads are most ordinary men, turned into heroes!”
Join us this Father’s Day on Sunday 18th June for an extra special lunch put together just for Dad. Leave the pots & pans at home and treat Dad to a delicious meal, creating the perfect chance to spend quality time with family. It’s the day to honour our Father’s, Grandfather’s & Father’s Figure alike. Enjoy a relaxing lunch in our Byron’s Brasserie with a selection of beer to choose from.
First things first, it’s important to understand why we celebrate Father’s Day. Believe it or not, Mother’s Day had a hand in the creation of Father’s Day, though the history is not exactly a straightforward one.
In 1909, an American woman named Sonora Louise Smart proposed a similar day for fathers to several local clergymen after hearing a speech in church about Mother’s Day. Sonora was raised by her father after her mother passed away in childbirth with her sixth child. She felt that paternal figures deserved similar recognition. Thus, June 19th 1909 is recognised as the first unofficial Father’s Day.
Over half a decade later, US President Lyndon B. Johnson decided that every third Sunday in June should be Father’s Day. Today, families across the world continue to celebrate the special men in their lives on this day.
At this point, you’ve probably ticked off many tried and tested Father’s Day plans, some even more than once. So why not do something extra special this June and honour your old man in Colwick Hall style?
The best gift you can give the man you love most is a meal as special as he is. Nothing beats a delicious sit down lunch and some good old-fashioned conversation.
Our professional chefs at Byron’s Brasserie have carefully crafted the ultimate menu, which includes something for everyone. Whether he’s a meat and potatoes kind of guy or has a hankering for seafood, we’ve got you covered.
For just £28.50, you can indulge in two courses. If you’re struggling to decide whether a starter or dessert will go best with your main, however, you can always get both. For £35.50, you can enjoy our three-course menu.
Plus, all of our meals are prepared using locally sourced seasonal ingredients to bring you the best taste and get your taste buds dancing with delight.
The Nottinghamshire countryside also offers the perfect escape for your old man to relive his heydays. Get out on the green and take a stroll around sixty acres of parkland. Admire the architectural beauty of the house that was once home to Lord Byron and explore the network of eight different lakes, a marina and a ruined church.
We guarantee that your father will have an unforgettable experience. You’ll secure a place in his good books until next year! We only get one chance a year to truly honour the men in our lives. To make this year one to remember, book a table or download our menu today.
