A Spoonful Of Sugar – Meet The Cast

The new year calls for a new themed tea experience. A spoonful of sugar delights in every way imaginable. An afternoon tea that brings sweet smiles to start 2019 with joy and fun. Now that the magical menu has been created, our team cast, endeavour begins in earnest to bring to you a most impressive experience. A spoonful of sugar beats the norm on so many levels!

To begin with, youthful James of Colwick Hall fame, has conjured up a flight of taster drinks to journey through each of the courses in sheer delight. ‘Lemon Sherbet Fizz’ and ‘Apple Barley Water’ are paired with finger sandwiches and wraps that are ‘practically perfect in every way’.

Encapsulated in happy vibes, scintillating Sammie adorns her pristine white gloves, daisy brimmed hat and spreads joy with her spoonful of sugar. Armed with frilled umbrella and the trademark handbag, she pulls out surprises for our guests and visitors as they giggle over savoury and sweet delights and a cup of perfectly brewed tea.

Chimney sweep by day Ellen, works effectively to serve our guests with their chosen tea – and of course the menu can cater for any dietary requirements too! Rounding off an excellent team that will ensure the most wonderful afternoon is experienced.

The cast is hugely supported by a hub of expert chefs and front of house members. Here are the highlights:

“Practically perfect in every way” sandwiches and wraps. Chef Ryan, originally from South Africa, has blended inspiration from his experience in our award winning ‘Wizarding’ theme and ‘Potty for Peter’, to offer four different fillings: ‘Stilton and pear chutney’, ‘coronation chicken’, ‘ham and egg’ and ‘cream cheese and cucumber’.

As a transition out of savoury to sweet, we break with tradition and serve our ‘cream of celery soup with pasta bow’ and ‘mature cheddar and caramelised red onion mini quiche’. Always a hit with our customers as they are keen to enquire of the ingredients. Chef Jay works to the mantra of ‘in every job that must be done, there is an element of fun’ and is only too joyous to come out and have a chat and perhaps share the recipe too!

Executive chef Lee has saved the best for last as he rolls off some ‘supercalifragilisitc’ sweet delights. From ‘Fly a kite cookies’, ‘double chocolate cherry tree lane cake with a chocolate mousse’, ‘a spoonful of sugar cupcake’, to a classic ‘rhubarb and stem ginger scone with clotted cream and preserve’.

Sales and Marketing director Naomi Tupoulahi said:

“I am blown away with what the team has come up with for this menu – it could be my favourite one so far! So much nostalgia, fun, and delicious ingredients, I can’t wait to share this with all of our clients. The perfect way to start the year and keep the festive spirit alive for longer!”

And here’s a fun fact for you! Believe it or not, our room reservations manager and star cast member, Sammie Tyler, drew all the promo images on our menu and web page on an ipad! Pretty spectacular if you ask us!
