Getting Hitched

Whilst the lace market past is very much part of the fabric of Nottingham, today we see a plethora of couples, more than ever before, laced in love. Two top universities in the city with record reach, meaning 1 in 6 of the city’s population is a student makes it a vibrant region.

We see from the Graduation and Society Balls, there is a hub of talent amongst young people and a recent BBC news article highlighted initiatives to retain that expertise in the employment sector. For us we feel there could be synergy with the burgeoning of lifelong relationship and companionship. Nottingham has also been bucking the trend on marriages, as was noted by the Registry Office with 3021 wedding ceremonies in 2018, a rise of over 200 when compared with the previous year.

Following two high-profile Royal Weddings last year, the mood for marriages we see being on the rise. After last minute deals coming up in 2019, our wedding co-ordinators are regularly meeting with brides in their very early stages of planning right now and considering a date as far as 2022, a trend that is more than likely to continue. Post financial crisis of 2008 when most looked short term, couples are back to longer term forecasting and with the rise of co-habiting and meticulous detail involved in a dream wedding, we welcome the current outlook with open arms.

Sweeping through the arrowed gates and gravel driveway, we are blessed with a setting simply manicured for the fairytale wedding. In the Hall the 1776 Grand Ballroom and Champagne Lounge make for most impressive reception rooms for your ceremony, wedding breakfast and disco dancing. Over and above the bricks and mortar, the Colwick Hall team are dedicated to serving you and your guests with a smile. For our expert chefs and passionate kitchen force, attention to detail is paramount to deliver food with exceptional taste. Likewise, the service team scurry to meet your every need as for us it is undeniably your big day. As with every performance there are many of the team who put heart and soul into making your experience the best it can be. Housekeepers making the rooms at breakneck speed to accommodate early check in, receptionists assisting with pinning flowers in button holes, kitchen porters cooperating for a smooth flow, gardener and maintenance crew caring in their daily stride, the list is endless and we are more than thankful to all of the team for all they do. Having recently won the East Midland Chambers Business Awards 2018, an AA Rosette for our Byron’s Brasserie, Luxury Boutique Hotel of The Year 2018 & 2019 with the Luxury Travel Guide and
Most Idyllic Nottinghamshire Wedding Venue with the Global Wedding Awards, this is clearly recognition of the teams’ efforts.

Having seen the return of graduates gradballing from past years, be it for their own wedding or baby shower, has become more commonplace. That circle of life events is a special one, especially as we are making memories daily. The speed of time scares us from year on year as returning couples tell us they are celebrating their 5th, 10th or 15th anniversary and that makes us question how quick time flies.

For now, the Crystal Edition of our Simply Amazing Magazine gives prospective couples food for thought and sews a seed for the endless possibilities available when you choose to get married at Colwick Hall.
