In Madness for charity

Introduction

Three years ago, our journey started in fundraising for the amazing work that Macmillan Cancer Support offers. Right there for you for “whatever cancer throws your way”, we decided on bringing together our expertise in hosting charity balls and themed events and all for a most worthy cause.

Purpose

Following immense success and tremendous feedback in Year 1 with ‘Masquerade for Macmillan’, we then decided to establish the ball as an annual fixture and continued with ‘Martinis for Macmillan’ last year, and to date have raised very nearly £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year on Friday 27th September 2019, we host the third annual ‘Madness for Macmillan’ charity ball. Our aim is to raise monies to double our current fundraising total through a host of initiatives in 2019 and give back to our community. In doing so, much of the resources will also be dedicated to programs run by Macmillan in the East Midlands.

The Ball – What to expect?

Set in the Lakeside Pavilion within the grounds of the majestic Colwick Hall grandeur, the ball will be glittering, fun and colourful with delicious food and an awesome Madness tribute band headlining the event. Tables of 10 are decorated with fancy centrepieces and 80’s theming and production by the dexterous hands of Creative Occasions, True Love Lights your Way and Hayley Smith Venue Stylist. Digital tech and production by the IT event stalwarts Hawthorn Event Management and Quadrant Events.

Tickets include an arrival drink, stilt walkers by Fancy Entertainment, a talented table magician ~ Matthew Ramsell, and concept cocktails like no other from expert mixologists ~ Botanist, and a three-course themed menu. Starters feature a deep fried brie with redcurrant sauce and a rocket salad; whilst the Colwick Hall Beef Bourguignon pie is served with a red wine jus for main course. Dietary requirements are catered for including vegetarian and vegan options. And heading right back to your yesteryears, for dessert is cornflake tart with vanilla sauce or lemon meringue with a raspberry ripple ice cream.

The evenings host and MC is Iain Chambers of GEM Radio fame, whilst our in house DJ Matt Foote of Discovery Entertainment renditions 80’s hits for you to move to on the dancefloor. Adding to the vibrancy of the evening, guests are encouraged to come in black tie and also strike a pose with the Mirra Mirra photobooth, and get lucky on the casino tables by All-In Fun Casino Hire. And there’s more, a spectacular firework display over the grounds and lake, by 1st Galaxy.

The silent auction will be from Blue Monday, one of the pioneers in the industry, and based locally in West Bridgford, Nottingham. Rory and his team have a natural flair when it comes to putting on charity auctions with style and class. The prizes go well beyond memorabilia to the fantastic world of experiences with Michelin star meals, to live cooking, a cocktail masterclass, to an amazing holiday with friends to a far flung destination.

Headline Act & VIP Package

Thrilled to announce the headline act for the evening is Complete Madness, the UK’s no1 tribute to the nutty boys. The incredibly popular band with sell out shows nationwide sees Mark as lead vocalist and front man, Derek as the lead guitarist for the last 30 years, Kevin the saxophonist, David on keyboards and backing vocals, and Brett is the drummer.

Upgrading to the VIP Package gets you a table of 10 with premium seats. Also in the price is a beer sink, prosecco pod, recommended wines over dinner and a personalised gift at each place setting. This impressive food and drinks package on a fabulous evening in aid of Macmillan Cancer represents great value at just £75 + VAT per person.

More Fundraising

Building up to the Ball, our very own group of volunteers have taken to christening a Colwick Hall teddy sporting a Macmillan jumper. A competition was run here with over 60 nominations, the first being Monty, and the winner being Martin, and the proud recipient to receive the fresh news that they get an afternoon tea for two.

An auction was offered by the lovely Kirsty of True Love Lights your Way in the manner of a full wedding décor package to the highest bidder. Given its popularity both the first and second highest bids were successful, raising a total sum of £950 for the Macmillan charity.

More in the idea pipeline, is a bike in reception to rack up the miles for Macmillan ~ something for clients, colleagues and customers to get involved. Also on for the summer nights is an outdoor cinema screening, much more a family evening with a barbecue and ice cream.
