The ‘Caterpillar’ Trend

Every generation seeks an exodus in captivating a new type of celebration, and fresh delivery of romance in union, to be witnessed by family and friends. Jet setting to far flung Islands or informal receptions have been on the rise, but truth be told celebrating close to home holds its many advantages of wider families and friends across multi generations (being able to be) present on the big day.

Table layouts and dressing are a moment one can add a personal touch and create the flow of conversation with fine food and favourite tipple. With inspiration from weddings on rooftops in the Tuscan hills to balcony weddings on a Greek island, the concept of the Caterpillar trend is born.

The design consists of individuality making each wedding bespoke, arranging round tables in a continuing pattern allowing for greater engagement between guests, a larger feeling of togetherness and allowing ample space for centrepieces, champagne & wines, and an elaborate cutlery and crockery setting. Charger plates have certainly been a firm favourite for couples and the Caterpillar layout makes for more ease in creating that incredibly detailed and elaborate setting with soft added touches for the family to further personalise the special day.

Photography and content creating forms a formidable part. The Caterpillar trend makes for a rather unique clip and that artisan and original feeling is one that is founded on the couple’s special love story At the Autumn Wedding Showcase we unveiled some possible options in the Grand Ballroom, set up by the incredibly talented Decoris Weddings. This layout enables smaller receptions to feel larger and gives extra room for dancing after dinner.

Following this new wave in layouts, there are also options for a ‘Butterfly’ layout when it comes to larger guest numbers. Round tables set juxtaposition in the shape of a butterfly can extend from the Ballroom to the Pavilion depending on numbers and continue the waving link of tables to connect all the guests in one fine celebration.
