Love is in the Air: Romantic Dinner Ideas for 2026

As the days get lighter, February, our month of love has a much awaited spring in its step. Celebrating Valentine’s Day on Saturday 14th February 2026 is most certainly a very special date on our calendar.

Once the home of romantic poet Lord Byron, Colwick Hall makes for a truly romantic experience. This year, weddings on this most special occasion are also proving incredibly popular. The grounds, setting by the impressive fountain and lake make for a memorable experience and enviable captures that are undoubtedly insta worthy.

Byron’s Brasserie spells love is in the air from the moment one walks in. The famous ‘She Walks in Beauty’ by Byron taking centre stage beneath the very decorative Venus & Cherubs ‘wedgewood effect’ ceiling. Tables beautifully decorated with a red rose and the whole dining space giving ‘Bridgerton vibes’ with string wisteria blossom effect.

The chefs have put together a fine menu. Two courses at £42 and Three at £47. The king prawn & crayfish cocktail starter sets the love language on track and can be savoured with a refreshing glass of champagne. For mains, the braised shoulder of lamb with dauphinoise potatoes, peas & asparagus and braising liquor has certainly caught my eye.

Chefs Paul & Jim have been cooking up quite the feast and happened to pop in on one of the prep and tutorial sessions. Wok skills were on show with sautéed oriental vegetables that were mixed with a sweet chilli dressing. This all accompanied a very delicious soy & ginger grilled salmon. The sesame rice cake, simply ambrosia.

An excellent range of wine on offer and saving the best till last are the very tasty desserts. From a raspberry and vanilla delice with textures of raspberries, to a caramel brownie, or even a pineapple upside down served with rum & raisin ice cream, there is lots of choice to catch your sweet toothed attention.

In addition, there is also a beautiful afternoon tea served in the daytime on Saturday 14th February. The traditional tea menu priced at £25.95.
