Relax & Rewind

Are your daily tasks getting the better of you? Like you are being stretched from pillar to post with the destination getting further?

The mod cons of the technological era of the 21st century has without doubt brought creature comforts but perhaps at a price. Stress appears prevalent with day to day commitments, and more than ever to relax and rewind can be just bliss.

We aim to transport you to that relaxing world. Rewind and submerse yourself. Built in 1776, Colwick Hall exudes charm, intrigue and a setting so far from the norm. Back in the day, ladies and gentlemen arrived on steamship, took afternoon tea on the lawn (glass of Pimms in hand, wide brimmed hat on head) and retired in their bedchamber for the night.

Our bedrooms have been painstakingly restored retaining period features such as the marvellous fireplaces, intricate cornice work, exposed beams, and crooked door frames. Now a 4-star boutique hotel, the superior bedrooms and signature suite offer fine views of the lake, country park, grounds or racecourse. For couples on their Anniversary or Birthday, the option of champagne or prosecco on ice, and flowers or chocolate is ready to avail. Each bedroom is named after famous people in and around 1776 and hence many regular visitors are spoilt for choice between the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart suite in blue, to the 1st Duke of Wellington decorated in chivalrous crimson.

As that relaxation process begins, we rewind you to a moment of doing nothing. One of the most revered aspects of our accommodation is the free-standing Victorian bath. I have always found something therapeutic about soaking in a central bath, popping infinite bubbles, without a care in the world. Works wonders for clearing the mind. Often has this sparked the next idea and it really is a source of eternal inspiration.

When greater awareness is made about mental health and coping with new pressures, as social media, I believe its time to give space to our mind and body. Once again, the panacea for this new age phenomenon may be the century old techniques of yogic breathing and exercise. We as a team took to it early one morning recently and helped us relax and rewind before the day ahead. Follow us on Facebook and watch us on the landscaped lawns at Colwick Hall having a yoga class.

Be it afternoon tea in the gardens, to slumber in our kind size bed, or a big bash with family and friends, the mantra at Colwick Hall is one of relaxation.
